Karen Vaucher is a veteran of the restaurant business in the toughest market in the world - New York City! Karen’s passion for cooking stated at a very young age, inspired by her Italian Grandmother, who was always cooking something in her enormous kitchen and her Grandfather, a gardener, wine maker and farmer. She began her cooking career in Europe, working for Regine in Monte Carlo and Paris. Moving with Regine’s organization to New York in 1975, she went on to be a successful New York City Restaurateur, opening 4 establishments in the 1980’s, namely Primadonna, Le Bilboquet, Bistro du Nord and Bar du Theatre. Bar du Theatre was sold in 1991 to Jean-George Vongerichten and is now called JoJo. It was the first of his New York City restaurants.

In 1996, she moved to East Hampton, New York and opened the original Old Stone Market, a gourmet store, delicatessen and catering facility. Since relocating Old Stone Market to an 80 acre Ranch in Harper, Texas in 2006 she has continued to sell her signature Black Peppercorns from Madagascar for which she is the only importer in the US, while expanding to include an array of unique herbs and spices, grains, imported pastas, baking ingredients and essences, a variety of Salts from around the world, Alder and Cedar Grilling Planks and Himalayan Salt Lamps, nature’s natural ionizer.
